This year’s PILAS Conference will be held at the University of Cambridge on July 7th-8th 2022.
Keep an eye on this page for the Call for Papers, which will be published in February 2022, alongside further details on our conference!
Every year PILAS holds a Workshop on Latin American archives and collections in the UK for postgraduate students.
The next workshop will take place on 3rd March 2022 at University College London with the participation of the British Library, Senate House, University of Oxford, King’s College London, and ESCALA (University of Essex). Admission will be free, and everyone is welcome. We will post further information by mid-January!
WORK-IN-PROGRESS SESSIONS (online)
This year we are starting a new series of Work in Progress sessions aimed at PhD students whose research is related to Latin America. Students are invited to submit their work/chapters, to be read by other peers and receive feedback in a friendly and confidential environment. Don’t worry, this is not a public conference-type event! It is a closed workshop intended for a small group of writers/readers and is not meant to be attended by observers. The idea is for you to be able to work towards a deadline and to be read by peers other than your supervisor in a relaxed and constructive environment.
Our first session took place (online) on 6th December 2021, with more sessions to come the following year! Future dates are:
17th January 2022
28th February 2022
11th April 2022
23rd May 2022
Please follow this link if you would like to submit your work in progress.
And follow this link if you would like to volunteer as a reader.
We look forward to reading you and welcoming you in our future sessions!
