Become an editor for BLAR

The editors of the Bulletin of Latin American Research (the journal of the Society for Latin American Studies) are looking to appoint a new editor to join the existing team of five. We invite expressions of interest from SLAS members. The editors are particularly keen to provide more coverage in history or politics. Regional specialisms could include Colombia, Venezuela or Brazil, but others will be considered. Whoever is appointed will also be expected to work with our Assistant Editor to manage the book review process.

We warmly encourage applications from academics belonging to groups who may have been under-represented in such positions in the past. Appointment will be for an initial three-year term, renewable for a further three years, subject to approval. The current BLAR editors will select the new editor, with consideration for EDI principles and subject to ratification of the appointment by the SLAS committee. Editors are paid an annual honorarium in recognition of their services.

Please send a c.v. and a statement of up to 300 words indicating why you are interested and why you think you would make a good member of the editorial team to the BLAR editors, via Dr Eamon McCarthy, SLAS Secretary, Eamon.mccarthy@glasgow.ac.uk. Your email should be received by 31 May. Any queries about the nature of the role can be addressed to the Coordinating Editor, Prof Ann Varley, a.varley@ucl.ac.uk
