Postgraduate Overseas Conference Grants

DEADLINE 12 February

SLAS makes available up to 6 grants worth up to £500 each to postgraduate members to assist them to attend major conferences held outside the UK, where all other possibilities for funding have been exhausted. To be eligible, you must be: a member of SLAS; a current research student at a UK university (of any nationality); and giving a paper at the conference. Please note that funds are limited, and that SLAS can only offer a contribution towards expenses; the maximum sum available to each applicant is thus £500.

To apply please fill in the application form available here [Word]. There is a single annual deadline for applications: 12th February. SLAS will usually allocate £3000 in total in each round. Applications referring to conferences to be held within one month of the relevant deadline are ineligible and will be discarded.

Your application form should be forwarded to your referee who should submit the completed form and evidence that your paper has been accepted to the Secretary of SLAS. References should be entered on the application form and will not be accepted if they are received separately. A panel composed of members of the SLAS Committee will judge applications. The referee should submit applications by email to Dr Eamon McCarthy at Eamon.McCarthy@glasgow.ac.uk.

Applications arriving after the deadline will not be considered under any circumstances. Priority is usually given to applicants who have not previously been in receipt of funds from SLAS.

For any queries, please e-mail: Eamon.McCarthy@glasgow.ac.uk.
