JISLAC Post-Doctoral Travel Grant
Thanks to funding from the British Academy-sponsored Joint Initiative for the Study of Latin America and the Caribbean (JISLAC), SLAS is able to offer three travel grants of £600 each for 2009-10 to enable post-doctoral researchers to visit Latin America for the purpose of carrying out research there.
Applications are therefore invited from any UK-based researcher who is a SLAS member, who intends to travel to Latin America for such a purpose before the end of August 2009, and who gained a doctorate in the last 5 years (i.e. since March 2004).
Applications should consist of:
- an outline of the applicant’s project (in no more than 800 words), giving details of the research to be carried out in Latin America and details of the wider project to which this research contributes;
- details of any other funding which is being sought or will be provided for this research visit;
- brief details of research carried out by the applicant since the award of the doctorate;
- an outline of the expected costs for the visit.
The application should also be accompanied by a short reference from one other senior researcher (not from the applicant’s own institution) who knows the applicant’s work.
Invitations are especially invited from post-doctoral researchers who are not fully affiliated with a university in a permanent post.
Applications should be sent by 28 February 2009 in hard copy and by email attachment to the SLAS Secretary: Dr Adrian Pearce, Institute for the Study of the Americas, 31 Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9HA. Email: Adrian.Pearce@sas.ac.uk.
