SLAS Latin American Seminar Grants
SLAS makes available a total of 2 grants worth £500 each (£1,000 total) to support seminar programmes in Latin American studies in departments and institutions nationwide. This scheme is open to any department or institution in the UK hosting a seminar series in any field of Latin American studies, with the exception of the Institute for the Study of the Americas of the University of London (whose seminar series is supported by a separate SLAS grant, as the national coordinating body for the discipline).
The criteria for the award are:
- Potential impact of the seminar on the promotion of Latin American Studies in the host institution and / or locality
- The rationale of the series proposed
- Feasibility and coherence of the programme
Convenors who wish to apply should utilise the application form available here [Word]. The SLAS Latin American Seminar scheme has a single annual deadline, of 28 September, for seminars to be run in the following calendar year.
Applications should be sent to the SLAS Secretary, Dr Sarah Bowskill, at: s.bowskill@qub.ac.uk. They will be judged by a panel composed of members of the SLAS Committee, based on the quality and coherence of the proposed series.
Applications arriving after the deadline will not be considered under any circumstances.
