Annual Lecture: The Annual Lecture Climate Change and Latin America will be given by James
Painter, a journalist for the BBC World Service. It will take place on
Friday 7 November 2008, at 6pm at Canning
House. The event is
free for all SLAS members. It is necessary to pre-book (free) tickets

Leeds, March 26-27 2009 The team at Leeds have developed innovations to the SLAS
conference which promise to make it an exciting and thought-provoking event.

GRANTS
Postgraduate Grant DEADLINE 30 September. SLAS makes available a total of £2,000 per year to postgraduate members to assist them to attend conferences held outside the UK, where all other possibilities for funding have been exhausted. Conference Grant DEADLINE 31 December. SLAS funds amounting to around £3,000 annually are available to support conferences and other events which are likely to advance the objects of the Society. Applications for funds must be directed to some specific purpose, such as travel costs for speakers from Latin America.
